Corrections Policy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

We welcome evidence-based reports and aim to correct material errors in rates, formulas, labels, source references, and explanatory content. This policy describes how a report should lead to a review and, when justified, a change.

What to report

Examples include a wrong effective date, incorrect rate unit, missing supported fee, reversed tier boundary, arithmetic error, broken button, or explanation that conflicts with the calculator’s behavior.

A mismatch with a utility bill is worth investigating, but it is not by itself proof of an error. Special programs, prior balances, credits, different customer classes, and excluded charges can also explain a difference.

Send a reproducible report

Email contact@waterbillcalc.com with “Correction request” and the calculator or page name. Include the exact URL, the disputed claim or output, the input values and units, and the result you expected.

For a rate issue, provide the official schedule and effective date. For a display or button issue, identify the browser and device. Redact names, addresses, account numbers, payment details, and barcodes from screenshots.

Review and priority

We aim to review reports as reasonably practical. Errors likely to affect many estimates, incorrect rate claims, and failures that prevent use should receive priority over cosmetic changes.

A review may include reading the source, reproducing the result, checking the formula, and comparing a provider example. We may ask for clarification when the evidence does not establish the relevant rule.

Possible outcomes

If the report establishes an error, the appropriate content, data, or code should be corrected and checked. If the tool does not support the reported case, its limitation may need to be made clearer.

If a source conflict remains unresolved, the affected result may need a warning, a narrower scope, or temporary removal. We may explain why the report does not require a change. We do not alter verified information simply to match a preferred answer.

Recording material changes

Material rate and formula corrections should carry a revised date and a short explanation on the affected page when it helps readers understand the changed result. Minor spelling or formatting fixes may be made without a separate notice.

A newly adopted utility rate is an update, not necessarily a correction of an older-period calculator. The page should make clear which period the revised calculation supports.

Follow-up and personal information

Where contact details are available, we aim to explain a material review outcome. There is no guaranteed reply time for every message or a promise that every suggestion will be implemented.

We may keep the report and relevant evidence as needed to handle the issue and related follow-up. We do not publish a reporter’s identifying information as a correction credit without permission.

Scope of our role

We can correct website content and calculator logic. We cannot amend a utility’s official bill, grant an allowance, or direct a provider to issue a refund. For those matters, use the provider’s dispute or customer-service process.

Read our Fact-Checking Policy and Calculation Methodology for the standards used during review.
